Kimberlee Maresma MA, LPCC
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor and a graduate (2009) of Southwestern College in Santa Fe. I have a background in exercise physiology and holistic nutrition. I was first introduced to Mindfulness Meditation at age 25 with my studies of Ayurvedic Medicine/Yoga with Dr. Lad. My mindfulness and somatic approach to my work helps clients ease anxieties and depressive traits by tuning into the present moment, helping navigate better their emotional bodies and master emotional regulation. I also completed the Mindful Schools Training to begin working with kids and teens. I have taught Mindfulness Meditation at The Albuquerque Academy, Sandia Preparatory School, as well as with CYFD incarcerated youth. I am also one of the five teachers at The Mindfulness Connection, a mindfulness meditation community that meets weekly. I emphasize the connection to ones nutrition and their Mental Health and co-create (with you) treatment from this holistic model. I look at my clients as whole beings; body, mind, and spirit, with great passion and compassion. My model is client strengths based, humanistic, Attachment/Mindfulness based, somatic, with emphasis in Positive, Depth and Eco Psychology. I believe in your body's innate wisdom to heal itself. I am here as a gentle guide to remind you of this and reflect back to you your truth and your inner knowing. I am certified in Nutritional and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health and currently working toward Sex Therapy certification.
I have deep love for my family, the great outdoors, nature as one of the best healers, meditation, physical movement, reading as well as a passion for cooking healthy and beautiful food. Movement and Therapy
Being in our bodies is essential to healing. One can forever remain in the stories of their mind and have very little change in the way that they experience themselves emotionally. Once rooted into the bodyscape the mind can relax and truth can emerge more easily. In this type of therapeutic session we move together and discuss what "comes up" through the body and explore that new terrain with great possibilities of bigger insights of truth. Being in Nature offers a much larger more integral container which has the capacity to hold all that comes forward as well as offering a completely different non-"face to face" dynamic that one is accustomed to in traditional Talk Therapy. I offer three different types of movement therapies.
Walk and Talk: A walk with conversation that can take place in a park or in a neighborhood.
Hike and Talk: A bit more removed venture in the foothills or perhaps on the Bosque… creating a bigger container for your emotional creativity.
Train and Talk: With my background in Exercise Physiology I will take you through a warm up, then a 15 minute HIIT workout ending with a 5 min cool down. We will then spend the last half of the session in recovery and conversation.
